Do you like to get out of the house, avoid repetitive behavior and explore new places? If the answer to that question is, “Boy howdy!” then have I got a place for you to check out.
The Strokers
Strokers is Rick Fairless and Rick Fairless is Strokers. This semi-famous watering hole is a well-designed hodge podge of rustic buildings and kiosks. You can find it on Harry Hines, just a breath southwest of Bachman Lake. Rick’s bike building talent is the driving force behind his three businesses. His motorcycle retail shop, Strokers Dallas, Strokers Ice House, and Strokers Ink have been built with a lot of sweat and a knack for making the right decisions. Rick has taken full advantage of the bike boom of the nineties, turning it into a profitable business. It is obvious that much of his profits are put back into Strokers |
Before anyone gets the idea that this is just another ad for Strokers, let me tell you why I like the place and you’ll realize it is not about spending a lot of money at Rick’s place. Besides, he really doesn’t need the endorsement.
I’m going to boil it down into two words; People watching. Strokers is open to everyone, on a bike or not. If you get a centrally located seat, you can watch as bike after bike appears between the shop and bar. You’ll never know who’s going to be riding or what they will be riding. It could be a glamorous bike-build-off machine or it could be a Vespa scooter. I get a special kick out of watching the game faces as each visitor makes their entrance.
Sunny Afternoon
If you find yourself in North Dallas on a sunny weekend day, if you love motorcycles, and motorcycle people, let me suggest stopping at Strokers and relaxing for an hour or two. See the biker dudes sidle up to the bikini barmaids in a beer kiosk and show his “cool side.” Listen to the band that plays every weekend afternoon. Add to your ink. Look at pretty motorcycles. You’ll find something to amuse or something to astound; I guarantee it.
Well Buckaroos, mid-September I’ll be on my honeymoon and in October Gary and I will explore the Three Sisters. I will have stories. Stay tuned. Until next time;
Don't forget;
