I’m sure most of you have ridden through Glen Rose, Texas; the “Gateway to the Hill Country.” It is a beautiful town with a river road that runs along the south side. If you are looking for a short holiday, there are rustic accommodations such as; “Barnard River House” or the “Inn On The River.” Beside the usual eateries on US-67, you can step back in time at the “Riverhouse Grill.” I can attest to a robust and delicious menu they serve. Glen Rose is one of the little jewels that we often overlook as we pass by, headed towards points beyond.
No Motorcycles
Now that is no way to start a SSOM. No motorcycles!
What’s up with that? Ok, simmer down; I’m only trying to get you to pay attention. I am about to share with you a fun time I had one spring-break day earlier in the year.

As luck would have it, there are a variety of tours available. So ride to the park and park it. Fossil Rim Tours.
PIE - O'lay!
Hang out with a gaggle of bikers and holler out, “Who wants pie?” See what happens. More ears will perk up than a herd of wildebeest when a pride of lions approach. The old cup-o-joe and a piece-o-pie becomes the hot topic of the day. The question then morphs into, where is it and how long will it take to get there? My answer is, the Pie Peddlers, on the square in Glen Rose Texas.
Well buckaroos, if you’re not sold on a stop in Glen Rose by now, I doubt you’ll ever be. If y’all want to see some of their pies in color, check out the May SSOM online.
Until then;
ride often, ride hard and ride safe, but mostly ... Quick note: Popeye’s passing caught me off guard. He was that guy that does so much that goes unnoticed. L&R |
