Salvation of Man

Glens Falls NY was the site of many French-Indian and Revolutionary war battles due to it being half way between Fort Edward and Fort William Henry. The Mohawk first called the quaint town “Chepontuc”. It means ‘hard place to get around.’ In 1780 the British, on a punitive expedition, burned the village to the ground. The stalwart citizens soon rebuilt the town, bigger and better than ever. It was many years after, March 21st 1955 to be exact, that the Potter family welcomed a bouncing baby boy into the world. They named him Don.

The Road; paved with good and evil
The boy didn’t have a bad life. He experienced good times and bad times. It is hard to tell exactly what triggered the pain that sent the youngster down the path to hardship and sorrow. Dropping out of high school in the early 70’s, with long hair and no real prospects, it is no surprise that the skids had become a way of life – No job and a love life that was shaky at best – The recession of the mid-seventies sent more than one young person sprawling onto the streets. “Being homeless is grand,” said no one, no time. Try as he might, going door-to-door looking for work, our young man couldn’t hold it together. As you can imagine, his girlfriend wasn’t going to hang around so she once again split, using his truck to transport her “stuff” to another location. But he still had his bike.

It was Sunday morning, raining, and he couldn’t sleep. He would normally have no trouble sleeping in on Sunday; Saturday night was always a heavy party night. This morning, sleep was out of the question. Was it because his girl friend took his truck and moved out? Maybe, but one might change their mind if one were to know that he felt an urge, a deep, relentless urge, and acted on it.

Don had been invited to a local church. He thought he might go but heck, it’s raining; he couldn’t go out in that.

Lo and behold, the rain stopped – so did his excuses.

Hopping on his bike he made his way to the church. He entered and was welcomed. He met a nice young woman who exuded warmth and love. Whether he was captured at that moment or very soon after is anyone’s guess. On that day he came to know his soul mate and the Lord. Some say it was the best day of his life. About five months later they were wed. The Lord and music brought them together. They have been paying their holy debt back ever since, spreading the Word through music and sharing their love for Jesus Christ.

We don’t care how he got here, we’re just glad he did. Don Potter’s path crossed ours and we are better for it. He and Susan have been avid supporters of the motorcycling community and have made T.M.R.A. and their members a large part of that effort.

Well Buckaroos, Don was kind enough to bless Amana. If you’d like your bike blessed by Don, all you need do is ask.

Until then;
ride often, ride hard and ride safe, but mostly ... Ride em if ya go em!
