The Journey Continues
Last issue I left you at the Roaring River State Park. I finally found the camping I had planned on before I ever started this trip. It was an excellent spot and would have made a nice base camp. It was time to head south and leave Missouri behind.
Saying Good-Bye to the Ozarks
Vowing to return to the Ozarks, I reluctantly fired up Amana and shifted her into gear. Easing the clutch out I nosed my way out of the park, waving at the new friends I had just made that very morning. Entering Park Road F, I took in the tranquil scene, immersed in bright sunlight beaming down from a cloudless, deep blue sky.
One-Lane Bridge

The Little Golden Gate of Arkansas
Anyone that knows me knows that I love bridges, especially one-lane bridges. You can imagine how happy I was to visit one of my favorite one-lane bridges located in Beaver, Arkansas. Spanning the White River, it has survived several floods. |
The people of Arkansas consider the bridge to be a treasure. It is located northwest of Eureka Springs on AR-187. ![]() Two cars cannot possibly pass each other. The current bridge was built in 1949; the bridge is 554 feet long and only 11 feet wide. You may have seen it featured in the movie "Elizabethtown" There is a park next to the bridge. It is a perfect place to stop and give-it-a-rest. You’ll have plenty of photo ops. Just to the east of the park there is an old train bridge used in the mini series, "The Blue and The Grey". ![]() Well Buckaroo’s, this issue will wrap up this tale of travel through Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Missouri. From Beaver I made it back over the Talimena and then home, after a quick stop at the visitors station and travelers rest stop just across the Oklahoma/Texas border on US-75.
